Chanteur US né Louis Marshall Jones, le 20 octobre 1913 à Niagra (Kentucky). Grandpa Jones a débuté à l'age de 10 ans dans un concours d'amateurs sous le nom de Marshall Jones. Professionnel depuis 1935, il devient un as du banjo, se produisant déguisé en grand-père, d'où son surnom de Grandpa. Incarnant la vieille tradition du Old-Timer montagnard, il devient le prototype du comique rural, exubérant, savoureux et excellent musicien, maintenant vivace le style des chansons appalachiennes. Grandpa Jones, personnage attachant de la Country Music, grand-père éternel, ne semblant pas vieillir. Il fut un chanteur régulier au Grand Ole Opry (WSM, Nashville, Tennessee). On s'éloigne du rock'n'roll et du rockabilly mais c'est quand même excellent, ça me rapelle la musique de la série avec la bagnole au couleur du sud "Cours après moi shériff". Je fais peut-être une erreur mais moi j'appelle ça du hillbillie c'est pour moi l'ancêtre de la country et on retrouve une part de cet héritage dans le rockabilly qui est comme chacun sait un mélange de différentes musiques blanches et noires nord américaine.
En tout cas il touche au banjo GranPa.

Grandpa Jones il est vrai est très hillbilly et aussi un drand compositeur avec des morceaux repris par pratiquement tous les groupes de Country le plus connu étant sans doute Mountain dew.
