Warren Smith

Chanteur Rockabilly US né le 7 février 1933, originaire de Louise (Mississippi), Warren Smith a débuté en 1956 à la Sun Records de Memphis (Tennessee), puis il passe chez Liberty (60), Skill et Jubal entre 1964 et 1974 et Lake County Records (76-77). Il fut un chanteur régulier au Big D Jamboree (KRLD, Dallas, Texas) en 1956. Warren est mort d'une crise cardiaque le 31 janvier 1980. Il laisse derrière lui que des regrets car il chantait depuis toujours le Rock 'n' Roll et la Country Music avec une rigueur et une sincérité jamais démenties.

For sheer, heartfelt vocalizing abilities, of all the folks who stood in front of the microphone at Sun studio, Warren Smith may have been the most talented. Equally adept at storming rockabilly and the most gut-wrenching of country ballads, Smith always sang it from the heart, without giving in to phony rasping or histrionics. Though typecast as strictly a rocker, Smith left Sun and achieved minor success in the '60s as a country singer, his first love.
