Robert Gordon, est né le 29 mars 1947

Les débuts

Robert Gordon a grandi à Bethesda, Maryland, une banlieue de la capitale nationale de Washington, DC.
À l'âge de neuf ans (1956), il a été grandement touchés par la touche Elvis Presley la chanson Heartbreak Hotel jouer à la radio, et a décidé de poursuivre une Rock & Roll carrière à l'âge que les jeunes. Ses influences inclus Gene Vincent, Jack Scott, Billy Lee Riley, Eddie Cochran et autres notables rock 'n roll artistes de l'époque.

Il a fait son premier enregistrement à l'âge de 17 (1964) avec un groupe appelé la confidentielles.
Le confidentielles, avec Robert (Bob appelé à l'époque) que le chanteur a enregistré, entre autres: Summertime, argent, et il ya quelque chose sur votre esprit.
Ces rares pistes ont d'abord été publié en 2004 sur la célébration 40ème anniversaire (un CD promo spécial publié par l'auteur néerlandais / collecteur Arjan Deelen).

Lorsqu'on lui a demandé comment il liées à des années soixante, Robert a répondu "je ne l'ai pas".
Il n'a pas beaucoup de soins pour la British Invasion, mais il a identifié avec l'âme des chanteurs tels que James Brown et Otis Redding dont il a vu, entre autres grands R & B actes, effectuer à Washington DC du célèbre Howard Theatre.
Au cours des temps troublés de la fin des années soixante, avec les émeutes et anti-guerre protestations de la période, Robert servi dans la Garde nationale à DC.
"Je ne voulais pas être envoyé au Vietnam», rappelle-t-il.

Punk rock

Robert Gordon, visés par les amis et les fans comme RG,
s'installe à New York en 1970 et quelques années plus tard est entré New York Punk Rock florissante scène en se joignant à un groupe appelé le tuf Fléchettes.
Groupes populaires tels que Blondie, The Ramones et Talking Heads se dégage de cette scène.

En 1976, le Tuff Fléchettes enregistré tout pour l'amour de Rock & Roll, Head Over Heels et Slash pour une compilation album intitulé Live at CBGB's, qui comprenait un certain nombre d'autres groupes locaux NYC.
Cette année-là, Robert paru dans un Punk / New Wave style film intitulé Petit défait par le métro réalisateur Amos Poe. Blondie's Deborah Harry est aussi apparu dans le film.

Rockabilly relance

Record producteur Richard Gottehrer Robert découvert au cours d'une répétition un après-midi avec le Tuff Fléchettes et bientôt après,
les deux parlaient de faire un Rock & Roll record.

Gottehrer a été impressionné par RG voix de baryton et sa restitution d'Elvis Presley One Night.
Après une conversation, Robert a suggéré de travailler avec guitare légende Link Wray.
Wray a été contacté et il a accepté de travailler avec eux deux.

Robert me semble un peu comme le début d'Elvis, quand il était chez Sun Records," fera des observations Wray.
Robert Gordon avec Link Wray sur stock privé Records est le résultat de cette collaboration.
Les critiques généralement aimé et les ventes sont bonnes.
Elvis Presley la mort tragique a coïncidé avec la libération des Red Hot unique de l'album.
Le seul reçu beaucoup d'antenne radio et pour la première fois depuis longtemps (près de vingt ans) a été rockabilly à la radio.

Robert fait un autre album en 1978 avec Link Wray sur stock privé appelé spécial de poisson frais. La Jordonaires, des chanteurs pour Elvis Presley,
contribuerait à cet enregistrement.
Cet album comprend une chanson écrite par Bruce Springsteen en particulier de Robert intitulé Fire.
Springsteen a également joué du piano sur le morceau.
Malheureusement pour Robert, le Pointer Sisters rapidement porté sur la chanson qui est allé à # 2 sur les cartes et son enregistrement a été éclipsée.
Tout comme le nouvel album était de prendre de l'ampleur, stock privé a fait faillite.
Ces événements ont grandement déçu.

RCA

À la fin de'78, RCA Records à Gordon signé un contrat qu'il a décrit comme "un rêve" d'être sur "Elvis" étiquette". En Février de 1979 Rock Billy Boogie a été libéré, cette fois sans Wray (les deux ont fait valoir et de brisures de voyager après pour le dernier album).
Il serait Chris Spedding guitare sur le plomb.

Le titre Rock Billy Boogie, Walk On By, It's Only Make Believe et The Catman a beaucoup ondes et l'album fait irruption dans le top 100 cartes.
Le prochain album Bad Boy sorti en 1980 avait pauvres de vente et Gordon division de plomb guitariste Spedding.
Le prochain et dernier album pour 1981 a été RCA's Are You Gonna Be The One.

Gordon est le plus vendu album à ce jour, avec plus de 200000 exemplaires vendus . Danny Gatton joué lead guitar sur ce disque et Marshall Crenshaw écrit unique Someday Someway qui en fait 76 sur les cartes.

Biker film

En 1982, Gordon co-vedette avec Willem Dafoe dans une cinquantaine de style motard à cran (inspiré par Marlon Brando, The Wild One), The Loveless. Cette Dafoe a été le premier film mettant en vedette rôle.
Gordon composé la plupart de la bande sonore y compris: Trop jeune, je suis Dreaming Of You, Wastin 'My Time, Goodbye Baby, 17 et Calypso. Les critiques le plus souvent raved sur la bande sonore, mais n'aime pas le film. Loveless Le fait mal au box-office, mais est maintenant considéré comme un culte favori.

MTV

RCA Gordon a chuté après une dispute sur le budget pour le prochain projet album, et il a trouvé lui-même sans étiquette. Autour de ce temps du début des années 1980 le MTV câble réseau a commencé.
MTV est devenu très populaire et un groupe beaucoup inspiré par Robert Gordon, The Stray Cats, avec de nombreuses vidéos musicales, est devenu très populaire avec elle, la vente des millions de documents.

The Real Deal

Il ya eu beaucoup de re-questions de Gordon enregistrements,
et il a fait beaucoup d'autres albums sur des étiquettes mineures depuis.
Jerry Lee Lewis said of him "Robert Gordon is the real deal."
Il continue à visiter et faire des enregistrements à ce jour.

Chanteur US né en 1947 à Washington (Maryland), Robert Gordon contribua entre 1977 et 1980 au renouveau américain du Rock 'n' Roll et du Rockabilly, avec ses interprétations des oeuvres des Pionniers. Robert Gordon aurait pu faire une grande carrière grâce à ses qualités vocales exceptionnelles mais fut éclipsé par la mode du Rockabilly Revival qu'il avait pourtant contribué à instaurer.
