THE BELLHOPS HELP SUN ROCKER BILLY LEE RILEY
WITH A TRIBUTE FESTIVAL @ THE RAMBLER, EINDHOVEN
As many of you already know, The Bellhops recorded a new album last
year with Billy Lee Riley, “Still Got My Mojo”, for Rhythm Bomb Records.
We heard some rumours that Billy had bone cancer, we couldn’t believe it
and called Billy the same day. This is what he told us:
“It was good to speak with you, I wish I could have told you that the
rumours were lies but that is not the case. We were just shocked when the
surgeon told us what he had found”. Billy said that America isn’t the
best country to get sick, and he has problems with all the medical bills
for his radiation and chemo. We offered him to do a benefit concert in The
Netherlands to help him a little and he was very happy with the idea. He
played lots of concerts for us in The Netherlands and now we think it's time
to play for Billy.
We posted a bulletin on MySpace asking bands to take part in the benefit
concert and the response was overwhelming !!! On sunday September 6 there will be a
great festival for Billy Lee Riley at The Rambler in
Eindhoven. We start at 2 pm and we will go on till the last band has
played.... The Rambler even offered to make it a two day event, starting saturday
September 5, if more bands offer to play ! So check your calendar,
see if you’re free and come over, let all the Dutch, German and Belgian
bands stick together and play together a RED HOT show like we never played
before for Billy Lee Riley !!!

Lots of bands haven’t confirmed yet but are interested and will get back to
us as soon as possible. Of course we keep you posted on all the bands that are going
to cooperate. Please don’t forget that all the profits will go directly to Billy
Lee Riley so it's in our interest that you all mark sunday September 6 in your calendar
and come to The Rambler in Eindhoven to support this event! We do this
for one thing only and that is to show Billy that we care for him and that
we are thankful for the music that he shared with us all over the years.
