Instead of getting a time line with all the highlights of the moment we do get a bunch of stars who introduce us to their stars and inspirations, from that point of view we start taking history lessons into what might be the biggest revelation in our world : Rock and Roll music!
Rock music is high velocity folk music, and that is exactly what it is! With original clips from Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Little Richard, Buddy Holy and tons of others you’ll see the birth of rock and roll! Next to the big stars like Bono, Tina Turner or Mick Jagger you’ll also get Dick Clark or Fabian who tell their story! Most of the times Rock and Roll was music but sometimes Rock and Roll meant Sex! Discover where that quoute coems from and learn about the many meanings of Rock and Roll.
But there is more to Rock and Roll then a bunch of guys who try to imitate Elvis. The black music was also evolving. Listen to the Ronettes or to Ben E. King and you’ll understand that Rock and Roll was much more then some white boys music.
In the second part of this series we’ll take a leap into the sixties where we meet the Beatles, the Kinks, the Who and all those other UK bands! Rock and Roll isn’t the same anymore but that’s mainly because all the kids from the fifties grew up and a new generation was knocking on the door. But the true soul of Rock and Roll is extremely good disguised. One moment as a blues butt kicking UK bands who interpret the old blues in a very unique way, at another moment as a female soul band or a black gospel choir .
So far two DVD’s are released in this series and a third one is coming up in a couple of weeks! The information and clips you’ll get to see is incredible. With on each disc over 100 minutes of footage, video clips and interviews, this series is indeed a good start in to get into Te History of Rock and Roll.
