| COOL COOL BABY by Lafayette Yarborough - Bart 7625 (1957)
Well you look so sweet walkin' down the street, but you're just as cold as (?), cool cool baby, don't you be cool to me. Well, cool cool baby, don't you be cool to me. Well you're like a doll from your head to toe, when I wink at you then (?),
cool cool baby, don't you be cool to me. Well, cool cool baby, don't you be cool to me. Well, (uninteligible),
you're a cool cool chick, not a bitchin' (?) I'd feel fine if you treat me nice, please be kind and (uninteligble). Well, I like your style, and you got me so, but you (?) cool cool baby, don't you be cool to me.
Well, cool cool baby, don't you be cool to me. (piano & guitar break)
Well, (uninteligible),
you're a cool cool chick, not a bitchin' (?) I bet if we'd kiss I would really flip, (uninteligible) a-those frozen lips. Well, my heart's on fire and my hopes are high, (uninteligible)
cool cool baby, don't you be cool to me. Well, cool cool baby, don't you be cool to me. Well, a-well now cool baby, won'cha (uninteligible).
LIVIN' DOLL by Lafayette Yarborogh - Bart 7625 (1957)
Well, you look just like a dolly, with that pretty hair, but you're cute as anybody, with that (?)
(refrain)
You're a livin' doll, you're a livin' doll. Well, you smile just like a dolly, treat me like they do, but you're sweeter than a dolly, when I'm a-kissin' you.
(refrain)
If you should go to toyland, climb upon the shelf, the guys would rush to toyland, but I'd grab you for myself. You're like a pretty dolly, all dressed up so nice. Tell me that you'll be my dolly, let me have you for life.
(refrain)
(piano & guitar break)
Well, I'll buy a little doll house, a little gold ring too. We'll have a little dolly, wow, I hope it looks like you. Oh, I dreamed about a dolly, oh, make my dream come true. Tell me that you'll be my dolly, I'm in love with you.
(refrain, repeat)
The identity of Lafayette Yarborough has not been clearly made. We suspect that he may have later recorded as Lafayette & the LeSabres on Port 70036 "Free Way (inst)/Cure For Love" in 1963. The vocals are similar and the label shows "L & M Yarbrough" as co-writers, as well as "L. Yarbrough" as the producer.
Either way, the above two-sider is a great one, and worthy of inclusion in anyone's rockabilly/rock'n'roll collection. These Lafayette Yarborough songs are available on the following compilations:
"Cool Coll Baby" / Cool And The Crazy - Buffalo Bop CD 55006 Rockabilly Gold - Lucky CD 812
The Chicken Are Rockin' (vol 2) - Eagle CD 90201
Ultra Rare Rockabilly's (vol 7) - Chief CD 1156507
"Livin' Doll"/ Cool And The Crazy" - Buffalo Bop CD 55006
The Chicken Are Rockin' (vol 2) - Eagle CD 90201
Ultra Rare Rockabilly's (vol 6) - Chief CD 1155606
