| Hi Johnny
pour les Satellite V Satellite V have been out there. Charged up from drinkin' white lightnin', we're coming at ya like a cut down hotrod draggin' main street. Formed early in 1997, Satellite V gathered some twin harmony honky tonk material. The fellas have long been fans of what we now call "roots music", be it blues, jazz, swing or the older style of country music. Satellite V have combined their original music with authentic 50's sounds to create a unique hybrid of rockabilly, hillbilly, western swing and jump blues. They've proved to be a favorite with the folks in the know. 'Hail, Bop Comet!' their 1st release was a huge success, and full of toe tappin' jivable tracks such as "Washing Machine Boogie" along with twisted originals like "Cane Cutter Boogie" where cane toads burn alive! With steady gigging around and about, word has quickly spread that Satellite V are a must for rockers & honky tonk jivers. 1999 saw the band head to Coolangatta's Wintersun Rock 'n' Roll weekend. They've also featured at "The Great Southern International Blues & Rockabilly Festival" in Narooma, and can be heard on this great festivals album! Satellite V's 2nd album "Groove Juice" was unleashed on waiting fans in June 2000 combining fuel injected original tunes - the law abiding "Speed Limit Daddy", outlaw biker "Beatles miss you Johnny", interstellar "Satellite Boogie" and rubber burnin' "Hillbilly Nitro". Satellite V have established a bent & rockin' thing they call "Atomic Hillbilly". 'Hillbilly Safari' is Satellite V's 3rd album and was presented at Wintersun 2002. It features originals including "Ganymede Baby", "Hudson Sled", "Fruit Fly" and "Hillbilly Safari", and renditions of Merrill Moore's "Bell Bottom Boogie", Roy Hall's "Three Alley Cats", Carl Perkins' "Pop let me have the Car" and Big Joe Turner's ever great rhythm & blues rocker "Honey Hush". There's a total of 14 tunes on this great new album. Indeed, this third release is more hillbilly than the first two albums, but strangely enough, it's not less rockabilly. Instead of "wild and rocking", this platter is more like "cool and thumping". And if this ain't rockabilly, I must be a hillbilly... The overall sound is fantastic, the way Steve thumps his bull fiddle and the cool bluesy licks of Roy's lead guitar will get shivers down every rockabilly's spine. The raving rendition of Dale Hawkins' "Little Pig" is fabulous, with Tim singing as if he's chewing some gum at the same time (or is it a bite of chew tabacco?) and Web Pierce's "Teenage Boogie" has been a long time time favorite of mine. Warren Smith's "So Long, I'm Gone" (written by Roy Orbison) sounds like never before, these guys sure know how to revive old classics. You can listen to samples and order your copy from the Satellite V website.Satellite V are: Tim Knuckey - Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar Steve Wood - Bull Fiddle, Vocals Roy Payne - Lead Guitar, Lap Steel, Vocals Rob Souter - Drums Contact information and ordering:
