A “complete” collection of the Rock ’N’ Roll Hall Of Famer’s first historic four years of recording, 1955 to 1958. The 48-track set is comprised of every master recorded by Diddley during this seminal period for Chess Records’ Checker label, plus 12 alternate takes. There are 8 previously unreleased tracks, highlighted by a pair of alternate takes of the artist’s eponymous and familiar debut hit single, a gorgeous ballad, “Our Love Will Never Go,” and a rough-hewed take on the Mickey & Sylvia hit “Love Is Strange.”
1955 to 1958 was a landmark time for rock ’n’ roll and Bo Diddley. In this brief period, Diddley recorded “Bo Diddley,” “I’m A Man,” “Pretty Thing,” “Bring It To Jerome,” “Who Do You Love,” “Mona,” “Before You Accuse Me,” and his biggest chart hit, “Say Man.”
