Diz and the Doormen était un excellent groupe des années 80, je pense que très peu de gens devraient se souvenir de ce groupe fantastique et ils ont sorti des albums vraiment très intéressants, mais allons-y par parties.
Diz Watson est né en 1948 à Port Elizabeth (Afrique du Sud), à l'âge de 12 ans ses parents décident de partir en Angleterre, dans la ville du Yorkshire, à la sortie de l'école Diz Watson s'engage dans la marine marchande, ce qui lui permet de voyager et visité de nombreux coins du monde dès son plus jeune âge, une grande amitié s'est développée entre Diz Watson et Champion Jack Dupree, ce dernier a vécu à Halifax, c'est à Plymouth, Devon, (UK) que Diz Watson a commencé à prendre des cours de piano, sa mère déjà jouait du piano, Diz Watson à été fortement influencé par Fats Domino, Huey Piano Smith, Professeur Longhair…. C'est probablement à Plymouth (Royaume-Uni) que sa carrière musicale a commencé, le guitariste Crispin Gill l'a accompagné dans certaines de ces performances à Plymouth dans les Pubs de cette ville au milieu des années 70, avant de former les Doormen, Diz Watson à joué avec Juice on the Loose et The Barrel House Shufflers, Diz and the Doormen a été formé par Diz Watson (chant et piano), Kieran O'Connor (batterie), Pete Scott (basse) et Pete Thomas (saxophone).
