The cops heard Dan when he started to shout
They all ran in to see what it was about
And I heard him holler when they led him away

Now Dan was the bravest man that we ever saw
He let us all know he wasn't scared of the law
And through the black crossed bars he tossed a note to his dear

  Alors ça c'est du texte, excellent ! Et on dira (un certain Manœuvre pour ne pas le citer) que la "Pop intelligente" est arrivée dans les 60' ... Faux ! Il n y a qu'a ecouter Cochran, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry et ... Carl Perkins ...

Ca sent le vécu surtout ! Pendant des années avant de percer chez Sun, Carl a appris le métier dans les Honky Tonk ou il jouait tout les soirs devant des "Dan" qui avaient un razor dans la poche ou la chaussure !
