A rock and roll legend returns to Memphis

(WMC-TV)- Next month a rock and roll music pioneer will return to Beale Street. The musical career of Jerry Lee Lewis will be honored at
the 27th Music Pioneer Awards.
Lewis, who is also known as “the killer,” was born on September 29, 1935. Lewis achieved fame here in Memphis, Tennessee with songs
such as “Great Ball Of Fire” that was recorded at Sun Studios.
Lewis is also known for the “The Class of 55” album he did with Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Roy Orbison. Lewis’ latest
album, “The Last Man Standing”, is his best selling album to date with over a million copies sold worldwide.
This music legend will be honored at the New Daisy Theater on August 23. The red carpet reception will be at 6 p.m. and the award
presentations start at 7 p.m.
