Country music legend Roy Acuff is honored in a brand-new exhibit at Austin Peay State University in
Clarksville. "Roy Acuff: Life and Legend" is free and open to the public, and will run from October 4
through October 29 in the Mabel Larson Gallery, located in the school's Harned Hall.

The exhibit includes art and memorabilia from the "King of Country Music," including one of his jackets
and ties from the Grand Ole Opry, photographs and a date book that outlines the gigs that Acuff and
the Smoky Mountain Boys played in 1947.

"Life and Legend" commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Roy Acuff Chair of Excellence,
established by Acuff to bring national and regional artists to the school "to work with students and
the community in a dynamic atmosphere of unrestricted experimentation."

For more information on the exhibit, you can contact the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative
Arts at (931) 221‑7876.
