Ruffice Gordon Brown ("0"), 78 of 205 Central Ave. Hinton died at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday evening at his
home following a long illness.

Born April 15, 1932 in Quincy, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Nathan and Annie Leigh Brown.

As a young boy, “Luke” as he was known, began singing and playing the guitar and performed locally
in Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-1953. He and his late wife
owned a television repair shop in Falls Church, Virginia and Luke continued to write and record his
songs.

He performed in the Washington, DC area, where he became acquainted with Roy Clark, Jimmy Dean,
Patsy Cline and other country musicians just getting their start.

He entertained for the wounded military men at Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, MD. He became
well know in the Northern Virginia area and in 1966, he created his own record label called World
Artist. His signature song, “Dark Hollow” is one that is most remembered and made the charts.

He retired back to Quincy in 1974. He had been a resident of Hinton for the past year.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Cuca Brown, Violet Brown and Helen Brown. Brothers, Dallas,
Oliver, Frank, Joseph and Homer Brown. Sister, Arlene Fannin. Step-son, Dale Gordon Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Nannie Mae Brown. One daughter, Betty Adkins & husband Keith of Hinton.
Sister, Seanith E. Fannin of Portsmouth, OH. Four steps-sons, Wendell N. , Nathan Lee and Robert L.
Hannon and Sidney Bloomfield. Several nieces also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday September 17, 2010 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel
in Hinton with Pastor Don Napier. Burial will follow in Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call
from 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
