Chanteur US né le 10 mai 1941, originaire du Texas, Joe Poovey a débuté en 1955 en enregistrant à Dallas pour Jim Shell, puis en 1958 chez Dixie Records. On le retrouve ensuite comme chanteur de Country Music pour les labels Azalea, Sims et Cimmeron. Il fut un chanteur régulier au Big D Jamboree (KRLD, Dallas, Texas) en 1954-57 et Disc Jockey sur KMAE (McKinney, Texas) en 1958.
